VEHICLE TRAVEL CONTROL DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18516601 titled 'VEHICLE TRAVEL CONTROL DEVICE
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a vehicle travel control device that allows an adjacent vehicle to interrupt in front of the own vehicle by flashing blinkers, with the own vehicle adjusting its speed accordingly. The device terminates this control when the adjacent vehicle stops blinking its blinkers.
- Surrounding information acquisition device acquires information on targets around the own vehicle
- Electronic control unit executes interruption acceptance control by adjusting own vehicle's speed based on adjacent vehicle's blinkers
- Control unit terminates interruption acceptance control when adjacent vehicle stops blinking
Potential Applications
This technology could be applied in autonomous vehicles, traffic management systems, and advanced driver assistance systems.
Problems Solved
This technology helps improve traffic flow by allowing smoother merging of vehicles and reducing the risk of accidents caused by sudden lane changes.
Benefits
The benefits of this technology include increased safety on the roads, improved traffic efficiency, and enhanced driver comfort.
Potential Commercial Applications
The potential commercial applications of this technology could be in the automotive industry, transportation sector, and smart city infrastructure development.
Possible Prior Art
One possible prior art could be the use of proximity sensors in vehicles to detect nearby objects or vehicles and adjust the vehicle's speed accordingly.
What are the technical specifications of the electronic control unit in the device?
The technical specifications of the electronic control unit, such as processing speed, memory capacity, and communication protocols, are not provided in the abstract.
How does the device differentiate between different types of adjacent vehicles trying to interrupt in front of the own vehicle?
The abstract does not mention how the device distinguishes between different types of adjacent vehicles or their intentions when attempting to interrupt in front of the own vehicle.
Original Abstract Submitted
A vehicle travel control device comprising a surrounding information acquisition device that acquires information on targets around an own vehicle, and an electronic control unit configured to execute interruption acceptance control by acceleration/deceleration of the own vehicle so that an adjacent vehicle can interrupt in when it is determined that the adjacent vehicle is attempting to interrupt in front of the own vehicle by flashing blinkers based on the information on targets acquired by the surrounding information acquisition device, and the electronic control unit is configured to terminate the interruption acceptance control when it is determined that the adjacent vehicle is not executing the interruption and the adjacent vehicle has stopped blinking its blinkers in a situation where the interruption acceptance control is being executed.
