IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS, IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD, AND STORAGE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18509525 titled 'IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS, IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD, AND STORAGE MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a patent application for an image placement unit that calculates the maximum reduction and enlargement sizes of an image to fit within a nesting blank area, adjusts the image size using scaling processing, and stores the generated image data.

  • The image placement unit calculates maximum reduction and enlargement sizes for images.
  • It adjusts image sizes to fit within nesting blank areas.
  • The unit stores the generated image data after placement.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in industries such as printing, graphic design, and packaging where precise image placement and sizing are crucial.

Problems Solved

1. Ensures efficient use of blank areas for nesting printing. 2. Facilitates accurate image placement within specified areas.

Benefits

1. Optimizes printing processes by maximizing space utilization. 2. Streamlines image placement tasks for improved productivity.

Potential Commercial Applications

Optimizing image placement in printing processes for increased efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Possible Prior Art

Prior art may include similar image placement systems used in printing and graphic design software.

Unanswered Questions

How does the image placement unit handle images with complex shapes or irregular sizes?

The abstract does not specify how the unit adjusts images that do not have standard dimensions.

What is the processing time required for the image placement unit to adjust and store image data?

The abstract does not mention the time it takes for the unit to complete the image placement and storage process.

Original Abstract Submitted

An image placement unit obtains a blank area size in a main scanning direction available for nesting printing, from blank-area size information. The image placement unit refers to nesting-scaling-print setting information included in image data and calculates a maximum-reduction size and maximum-enlargement size to which reduction and enlargement are permitted. The image placement unit determines whether the maximum-reduction size and the maximum-enlargement size of an image are within the nesting blank area size. The image placement unit adjusts the size of the image by using a scaling processing unit and places the image in the nesting blank area. The image placement unit specifies the size after a placement position is determined to an image processing unit to generate image data of the image, and stores the generated image data into a storage apparatus. A blank-area measurement unit calculates the nesting blank area size after the image is placed.
