STEERING CONTROL DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18508665 titled 'STEERING CONTROL DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The steering control device described in the abstract is a system that corrects the target rudder angle of a vehicle based on various factors such as steering direction, traveling route, and movement-directional forward position. Here is a simplified explanation of the patent application:

  • The processor corrects the target rudder angle by a play compensation amount based on the steering direction.
  • The magnitude of the play compensation amount is restricted to a small side depending on the current position and traveling route of the vehicle.
  • The motor is operated using a control that adopts the steering angle as a control amount and the target rudder angle variable as a target value.

There are existing systems that assist with steering control in vehicles, but this patent application appears to offer a more advanced and precise method for correcting the target rudder angle.

      1. Unanswered Questions
        1. How does this technology adapt to changing environmental conditions?

The abstract does not specify how the system adjusts to factors like weather or road conditions.

        1. What is the potential impact on energy efficiency?

It is unclear from the abstract how this technology may affect the energy consumption of the vehicle.

Original Abstract Submitted

A steering control device includes a processor. The processor is configured to execute a target rudder angle correction process, a restriction process, and a rudder angle control process. The target rudder angle correction process is a process of correcting the value of the target rudder angle variable by a play compensation amount corresponding to a steering direction. The restriction process is a process of restricting the magnitude of the play compensation amount to a small side depending on the traveling route at a current position of the vehicle and the traveling route at a movement-directional forward position. The rudder angle control process is a process of operating the motor by a control in which a steering angle is adopted as a control amount and the value of the target rudder angle variable is adopted as a target value of the control amount.
