IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18505896 titled 'IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The image forming apparatus described in the patent application includes heating and pressing rotary members, an acquisition unit, and a speed control unit. The acquisition unit acquires information on the recording materials of the sheets involved in a print job, while the speed control unit adjusts the conveyance speed of the recording material based on this information.

  • Heating and pressing rotary members are used in the image forming apparatus.
  • An acquisition unit gathers information on the recording materials of the sheets being printed.
  • A speed control unit adjusts the conveyance speed of the recording material based on the acquired information.

Potential Applications

The technology described in this patent application could be applied in various printing devices and systems where precise control of conveyance speed is crucial for achieving high-quality prints.

Problems Solved

This technology addresses the issue of inconsistent print quality that can occur when using different types of recording materials in a single print job. By adjusting the conveyance speed based on the specific characteristics of each material, the apparatus ensures uniform results.

Benefits

- Improved print quality and consistency - Enhanced efficiency in printing processes - Reduced waste of recording materials

Potential Commercial Applications

"Optimizing Conveyance Speed for Print Jobs: Enhancing Print Quality and Efficiency"

Possible Prior Art

Prior art in this field may include patents or publications related to image forming apparatus with conveyance speed control mechanisms. One example could be a patent for a printer with automatic speed adjustment based on paper type.

Unanswered Questions

How does the acquisition unit gather information on the recording materials of the sheets?

The patent application does not provide specific details on the technology or sensors used by the acquisition unit to collect information on the recording materials. Further information on this process would be beneficial for understanding the implementation of the invention.

What are the potential limitations or challenges in implementing the speed control unit based on the acquired information?

Exploring the practical implications and limitations of the speed control unit could provide valuable insights for users and manufacturers.

Original Abstract Submitted

An image forming apparatus includes heating and pressing rotary members, an acquisition unit, and a speed control unit. In a print job where a first recording material is a first sheet and a second sheet, the acquisition unit acquires first information on the recording materials of the first and second sheets. The speed control unit controls a conveyance speed of the recording material of the first sheet based on the first information on the recording materials. In a print job where the first recording material is the first sheet and a second recording material is a third sheet, the acquisition unit acquires second information on the recording materials of the first and third sheets. The speed control unit controls the conveyance speed of the recording material of the first sheet based on the information on the recording material of the first sheet contained in the second information.
