LAMINATED VARISTOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18499299 titled 'LAMINATED VARISTOR
Simplified Explanation
The abstract describes a laminated varistor with internal electrodes inside a sintered body. The internal electrodes are connected to external electrodes through facing parts and connecting parts.
- The laminated varistor includes a sintered body and internal electrodes.
- The first internal electrode faces the third internal electrode and connects to the first external electrode.
- The second internal electrode also faces the third internal electrode and connects to the second external electrode.
- The connecting parts have narrow sections in a certain direction.
Potential Applications
The technology can be used in surge protection devices, power supplies, and electronic circuits.
Problems Solved
The laminated varistor helps protect electronic devices from voltage spikes and surges.
Benefits
- Improved protection for electronic devices - Enhanced reliability and durability - Compact design for space-saving applications
Potential Commercial Applications
"Enhancing Electronic Device Protection with Laminated Varistors"
Possible Prior Art
Prior art may include existing varistor technologies and surge protection devices.
Unanswered Questions
How does the size of the narrow sections impact the performance of the varistor?
The size of the narrow sections may affect the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the varistor in protecting electronic devices.
Are there any specific industry standards or regulations that this technology must meet?
It is important to ensure that the laminated varistor complies with industry standards and regulations to guarantee its safety and effectiveness in various applications.
Original Abstract Submitted
A laminated varistor includes a sintered body and first to third internal electrodes provided inside the sintered body. The first internal electrode includes a first facing part facing the third internal electrode in a third direction, and a first connecting part connecting the first facing part and the first external electrode. The second internal electrode includes a second facing part facing the third internal electrode in the third direction, and a second connecting part connecting the second facing part and the second external electrode. The first connecting part includes a first connection portion connected to the first external electrode, and a first narrow part having a dimension in a second direction smaller than the first connection portion. The second connecting part includes a second connection portion connected to the second external electrode, and a second narrow part having a dimension in the second direction smaller than the second connection portion.
