INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND STORAGE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18498154 titled 'INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND STORAGE MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes an information processing apparatus that can control the angle of view without losing track of the subject. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • Detection unit to find a target in an image
  • Setting unit to define regions in the image
  • Determining unit to track if the target exits a specific region
  • Control unit to adjust the image capturing range based on tracking results
      1. Potential Applications

This technology could be used in surveillance systems, autonomous vehicles, and robotics for tracking and monitoring subjects without losing sight of them.

      1. Problems Solved

This technology solves the problem of maintaining visual contact with a target while adjusting the angle of view, which is crucial in various applications such as security and navigation.

      1. Benefits

The benefits of this technology include improved tracking accuracy, enhanced surveillance capabilities, and increased efficiency in monitoring moving subjects.

      1. Potential Commercial Applications

The technology could be applied in security cameras, drone systems, and automated tracking devices for commercial use in industries such as security, transportation, and entertainment.

      1. Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be existing image processing systems that track and monitor subjects but may not have the specific functionality of controlling the angle of view without losing track of the subject.

        1. Unanswered Questions
        1. How does this technology handle multiple targets in the same frame?

This article does not address how the apparatus distinguishes and tracks multiple targets simultaneously.

        1. What is the processing speed of the apparatus in real-time applications?

The article does not provide information on the processing speed of the apparatus when tracking moving subjects in real-time scenarios.

Original Abstract Submitted

In order to be able to perform angle of view control without a tracking subject being lost from view, an information processing apparatus has a detection unit configured to detect a predetermined target from an image that has been captured by an image capturing unit, a setting unit configured to set a predetermined region and an exit determination region that is smaller than the predetermined region in relation to the image, a determining unit configured to perform exit determinations based on whether or not the target has exited from the exit determination region, and a control unit configured to control an image capturing range of the image capturing unit according to results that have been determined by the determining unit.
