COMMUNICATION METHOD AND APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18495885 titled 'COMMUNICATION METHOD AND APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

- Communication method and apparatus for sending packets of different services on the same path specified by an SR policy - Avoids limitations in dual-stack reconstruction implementation and improves communication efficiency - First network device forwards packets to a second network device based on an SR policy - Destination endpoint specified by the SR policy is the second network device - Identifier of the destination endpoint includes first and second IP addresses of the second network device

Potential Applications

- Network communication systems - Data centers - Internet of Things (IoT) devices

Problems Solved

- Limitations in dual-stack reconstruction implementation - Inefficient communication of packets with different services

Benefits

- Improved communication efficiency - Simplified packet routing - Enhanced network performance

Original Abstract Submitted

Embodiments of this application provide a communication method and apparatus, so that packets of different services can be sent, based on an SR technology, on a same path specified by an SR policy. This avoids a problem that a great limitation exists in an implementation of dual-stack reconstruction, and improves communication efficiency. In the method, after receiving a first packet, a first network device forwards the first packet to a second network device based on a path specified by an SR policy. A destination endpoint specified by the SR policy is the second network device. An identifier of the destination endpoint includes a first IP address of the second network device and a second IP address of the second network device.
