INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND STORAGE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18495849 titled 'INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND STORAGE MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes an information processing apparatus that can detect a target object in an image, determine if the object has exited a specific region, and adjust the image capturing range and zoom magnification accordingly.

  • Detection unit to identify a target object in a captured image
  • Setting unit to define a specific region within the image
  • Determination unit to assess if the target object has left the designated region
  • Control unit to adjust the image capturing range based on the determination
  • Zoom magnification setting unit to maintain the same zoom level as before the target object entered the region

Potential Applications

This technology could be used in surveillance systems, automated photography, and object tracking applications.

Problems Solved

This innovation helps in efficiently tracking and monitoring specific objects within an image, ensuring that they remain within a designated area.

Benefits

The apparatus provides automated control over image capturing parameters, improving the accuracy and effectiveness of object detection and tracking.

Potential Commercial Applications

Potential commercial applications include security systems, automated photography devices, and industrial monitoring equipment.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be image recognition systems that track objects within a frame but do not dynamically adjust image capturing parameters based on object movement.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology handle multiple target objects within the same image?

The patent application does not specify how the apparatus would handle scenarios where there are multiple target objects present in the image simultaneously.

What is the processing speed of the apparatus in making determinations about the target object's movement?

The document does not provide information on the processing speed of the apparatus in real-time scenarios where quick decisions need to be made based on the target object's movement.

Original Abstract Submitted

An information processing apparatus includes a detection unit configured to detect a predetermined target object from an image that has been captured by an image capturing unit, a setting unit configured to set a predetermined region with respect to the image, a determination unit configured to perform a determination as to whether or not the target object has exited from the inside of the predetermined region, a control unit configured to control an image capturing range of the image capturing unit according to a result that has been determined by the determination unit, and a zoom magnification setting unit configured to set the zoom magnification of the image capturing unit to the same zoom magnification as that before the target object enters the predetermined region, in a case in which the determination unit determines that the target object has exited from the inside of the predetermined region.
