IMAGING METHOD AND APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18486598 titled 'IMAGING METHOD AND APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The abstract of the patent application describes an imaging method that involves transmitting two different signals at different moments in time and receiving the reflected signals from an object to determine an image of the object.

  • The method involves transmitting a first signal and a second signal at different moments in time, with differences in frequency, transmission location, or transmission direction.
  • The first signal is reflected by the object and received as a third signal, while the second signal is also reflected by the object and received as a fourth signal.
  • The image of the object is determined based on the third signal and the fourth signal.

Potential Applications:

  • Medical Imaging: This imaging method can be used in medical applications such as ultrasound or radar-based imaging to obtain detailed images of internal organs or tissues.
  • Non-Destructive Testing: The method can be applied in industries like manufacturing or construction for inspecting materials or structures without causing damage.
  • Security Screening: The technology can be used in security systems to detect concealed objects or identify potential threats.

Problems Solved:

  • Improved Image Resolution: By transmitting different signals and receiving their reflections, the method allows for enhanced image quality and resolution compared to traditional imaging techniques.
  • Object Differentiation: The use of multiple signals helps in distinguishing between different objects or layers within an object, providing more accurate imaging results.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced Imaging Capabilities: The method offers improved imaging capabilities by utilizing different signals and their reflections, resulting in clearer and more detailed images.
  • Versatility: The ability to vary the frequency, transmission location, or transmission direction of the signals allows for flexibility in different imaging scenarios.
  • Non-Invasive: The method is non-invasive, making it suitable for various applications where minimizing patient or object discomfort is important.

Original Abstract Submitted

In accordance with an embodiment, an imaging method includes: transmitting a first signal at a first moment in time, and transmitting a second signal at a second moment in time, wherein the first moment in time is different from the second moment in time, and the first signal and the second signal are different in one or more of the following: a frequency, a transmission location, or a transmission direction; receiving a third signal and a fourth signal, wherein the third signal is a signal obtained by reflecting the first signal via a first object, and the fourth signal is a signal obtained by reflecting the second signal via the first object; and determining an image of the first object based on the third signal and the fourth signal.
