HINGE STRUCTURE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE INCLUDING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18485783 titled 'HINGE STRUCTURE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE INCLUDING THE SAME

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a hinge structure that includes a fixed structure with two guide rails, a first rotary structure with a guide portion and a helical groove along a first axis of rotation, a second rotary structure with a guide portion and a helical groove along a second axis of rotation, and a sliding structure with guide protrusions accommodated in the helical grooves.

  • The hinge structure includes a fixed structure with guide rails and two rotary structures with guide portions and helical grooves.
  • The first rotary structure is accommodated in the first guide rail and has a helical groove along the first axis of rotation.
  • The second rotary structure is accommodated in the second guide rail and has a helical groove along the second axis of rotation.
  • The sliding structure includes guide protrusions that fit into the helical grooves of the rotary structures.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Hinges for doors, windows, cabinets, or other movable structures.
  • Articulating joints for robotic arms or other mechanical systems.
  • Folding mechanisms for collapsible furniture or portable devices.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Provides a smooth and stable rotation mechanism for hinges or joints.
  • Allows for precise control of the rotational movement.
  • Reduces friction and wear between the moving parts.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved durability and longevity of hinges or joints.
  • Enhanced functionality and ease of use.
  • Enables compact and space-saving designs.

Original Abstract Submitted

A hinge structure is provided. The hinge structure includes a fixed structure including a first guide rail and a second guide rail, a center of an arc of the first guide rail is a first axis of rotation parallel to an axial direction and a center of an arc of the second guide rail is a second axis of rotation parallel to the axial direction, a first rotary structure including a first guide portion accommodated in the first guide rail and a first helical groove extending around and along the first axis of rotation, a second rotary structure including a second guide portion accommodated in the second guide rail and a second helical groove extending around and along the second axis of rotation, and a sliding structure including a first guide protrusion accommodated in the first helical groove and a second guide protrusion accommodated in the second helical groove.
