DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18480912 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

The abstract of the patent application describes a display device with an emitting area, a non-emitting area, a metal layer, an active layer, a light shield, and a low reflective layer to reduce reflectivity and prevent display quality degradation due to parasitic capacitance.

  • The display device includes an emitting area and a non-emitting area.
  • A metal layer is located in the non-emitting area.
  • An active layer is also located in the non-emitting area.
  • A light shield is present in the non-emitting area.
  • A low reflective layer overlaps the light shield to reduce reflectivity.
  • The design helps prevent degradation in display quality caused by parasitic capacitance.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in various display devices such as smartphones, tablets, and televisions. - It can also be applied in automotive displays and wearable technology.

Problems Solved: - Reduces reflectivity in display devices. - Prevents degradation in display quality due to parasitic capacitance.

Benefits: - Improved display quality. - Enhanced visibility in various lighting conditions. - Increased efficiency in display performance.

Commercial Applications: - This technology can be utilized by display manufacturers to enhance the quality and performance of their products, leading to increased customer satisfaction and market competitiveness.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the low reflective layer overlap with the light shield to reduce reflectivity?

  - The low reflective layer is strategically positioned to overlap with the light shield, effectively reducing the reflectivity of the display device.

2. What are the specific advantages of preventing degradation in display quality due to parasitic capacitance?

  - By preventing degradation in display quality, the technology ensures consistent performance and longevity of the display device, leading to a better user experience.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device in one example includes an emitting area located in an active area, a non-emitting area located in the active area, a metal layer located in the non-emitting area, an active layer located in the non-emitting area, a light shield located in the non-emitting area, and a low reflective layer located in the non-emitting area so that at least a portion of the low reflective layer overlaps the light shield. Thus, the display device has a low reflectivity, and it is possible to prevent degradations in the display quality due to parasitic capacitance.
