FEEDBACK ASSOCIATED WITH ALIGNMENT OF A USER EQUIPMENT ANTENNA WITH A SATELLITE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18480849 titled 'FEEDBACK ASSOCIATED WITH ALIGNMENT OF A USER EQUIPMENT ANTENNA WITH A SATELLITE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application abstract describes a system where a user equipment (UE) determines a target orientation for satellite communication alignment, calculates the current orientation of the UE, and provides feedback to the user based on the difference between the two orientations.

  • Target orientation determination for satellite communication alignment
  • Current orientation calculation for the UE
  • Feedback provision to the user based on orientation difference

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in satellite communication systems, remote sensing applications, and virtual reality systems.

Problems Solved

This technology helps users align their equipment for optimal satellite communication, improving signal strength and quality.

Benefits

Users can easily align their equipment for satellite communication without the need for complex tools or expertise, leading to improved communication reliability.

Potential Commercial Applications

Commercial applications include satellite communication devices, remote sensing equipment, and virtual reality systems for consumer and industrial use.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be systems that provide visual feedback for alignment purposes, but the specific combination of determining target orientation, calculating current orientation, and providing feedback based on the difference may be novel.

Unanswered Questions

1. How does the system handle real-time changes in orientation during the communication session? 2. What are the specific types of non-visual user feedback that can be provided based on the orientation difference?

Original Abstract Submitted

In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) determines a target orientation associated with the UE for a two-way satellite communication session that provides a line of sight (LOS) alignment between an antenna of the UE with a satellite antenna, determines a current orientation associated with the UE, determines difference information associated with a difference between the current orientation of the UE and the target orientation of the UE; and transmits, to a user feedback component, an instruction to provide user feedback that is based on the difference information and that comprises non-visual user feedback or visual feedback that is separate from a display screen of the UE.
