DISPLAY PANEL AND DISPLAY APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18478724 titled 'DISPLAY PANEL AND DISPLAY APPARATUS
The display panel described in the patent application consists of a substrate with three distinct areas, including a first area, a second area surrounding the first area, and a third area surrounding the second area. Within the first area, there are two pixel portions: a first pixel portion located near the boundary between the first and second areas, and a second pixel portion closer to the central portion of the first area.
- The display panel features a unique pixel layout with varying numbers of sub-pixels in different pixel portions.
- The first pixel portion has fewer sub-pixels compared to the second pixel portion.
- This design allows for optimized display performance and efficiency.
Potential Applications:
- This technology can be applied in various display panels, such as LCD screens or OLED displays.
- It can enhance image quality and resolution in electronic devices like smartphones, tablets, and televisions.
Problems Solved:
- Addresses the need for improved display performance and efficiency.
- Optimizes pixel layout to enhance image quality and resolution.
Benefits:
- Enhanced display performance and efficiency.
- Improved image quality and resolution.
- Potential cost savings in display panel manufacturing.
Commercial Applications:
- This technology can be utilized in the consumer electronics industry for manufacturing high-quality display panels for smartphones, tablets, and televisions.
Prior Art:
- Researchers can explore prior patents related to display panel pixel layouts and sub-pixel configurations to understand the evolution of this technology.

Questions about Display Panel Pixel Layout Optimization: 1. How does the varying number of sub-pixels in different pixel portions impact display performance? 2. What are the potential cost implications of implementing this pixel layout design in commercial display panel manufacturing?
Original Abstract Submitted
A display panel includes: a substrate having a first area, a second area at least partially extending around a periphery of the first area, and a third area at least partially extending around a periphery of the second area; a first pixel portion in a portion of the first area that is adjacent to a boundary between the first area and the second area; and a second pixel portion nearer to a central portion of the first area than the first pixel portion is. A number of sub-pixels in the first pixel portion is less than a number of sub-pixels in the second pixel portion.
