HYDROPHILIC NONWOVEN HAVING APERTURES AND ABSORBENT ARTICLE COMPRISNG THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18476376 titled 'HYDROPHILIC NONWOVEN HAVING APERTURES AND ABSORBENT ARTICLE COMPRISNG THE SAME
Simplified Explanation
The present disclosure is related to a nonwoven material with a first layer that does not contain cellulose-based fibers. The first layer has a hydrophilic surface with apertures, each with a higher contact angle than the non-aperture area.
- Nonwoven material with first layer free from cellulose-based fibers
- First layer has hydrophilic surface with apertures
- Aperture contact angle is higher than non-aperture area contact angle
Potential Applications
The nonwoven material could be used in medical products, hygiene products, filtration systems, and cleaning products.
Problems Solved
This technology solves the problem of maintaining a hydrophilic surface in nonwoven materials without the use of cellulose-based fibers.
Benefits
The nonwoven material provides improved liquid absorption and retention due to its hydrophilic properties.
Potential Commercial Applications
"Hydrophilic Nonwoven Material for Medical and Hygiene Products"
Possible Prior Art
There may be prior art related to nonwoven materials with hydrophilic properties, but specific examples are not provided in this abstract.
Unanswered Questions
How does the nonwoven material perform in terms of durability and washability?
The abstract does not mention the durability or washability of the nonwoven material. Further testing would be needed to determine these factors.
What is the cost-effectiveness of producing this nonwoven material compared to traditional cellulose-based materials?
The abstract does not address the cost-effectiveness of this technology. A cost analysis would be necessary to determine the economic viability of using this nonwoven material.
Original Abstract Submitted
The present disclosure is related to a nonwoven comprising a first layer free from cellulose-based fibers. The first layer comprises a first surface, an opposite second surface, and a plurality of apertures. The first surface of the first layer comprises a hydrophilic non-aperture area having a first non-aperture area contact angle as measured by a Contact Angle Test. Each of a majority of the plurality of apertures has a side wall having an aperture contact angle as measured by the Contact Angle Test. The aperture contact angle is higher than the first non-aperture area contact angle.
