Intelligent Firewall Flow Processor - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18472123 titled 'Intelligent Firewall Flow Processor

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a network system that ranks flows based on importance and sends this information to a controller or a network interface card.

  • The network system includes processing circuitry and memories.
  • The memories store instructions for obtaining telemetry data.
  • Telemetry data includes flow processing data for multiple flows.
  • The system ranks flows based on importance indicated by telemetry data.
  • Information about flow ranks is sent to a controller or a network interface card.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in network management systems to prioritize and optimize flow processing based on importance.

Problems Solved

This technology helps in efficiently managing network traffic by prioritizing flows based on their importance.

Benefits

The system allows for better network performance by focusing on critical flows and optimizing their processing.

Potential Commercial Applications

"Network Flow Prioritization System for Improved Performance" could be a suitable SEO optimized title for this section.

Possible Prior Art

There may be prior art related to network flow prioritization systems or network traffic optimization methods.

Unanswered Questions

How does the system determine the importance of each flow?

The abstract does not provide details on the criteria used to rank flows based on importance.

What impact does this system have on overall network performance?

The abstract does not mention the potential improvements in network performance resulting from the implementation of this system.

Original Abstract Submitted

Example systems, methods, and storage media are described. An example network system includes processing circuitry and one or more memories coupled to the processing circuitry. The one or more memories are configured to store instructions which, when executed by the processing circuitry, cause the network system to obtain telemetry data, the telemetry data including flow processing data associated with a plurality of flows. The instructions cause the network system to rank the plurality of flows indicated by the telemetry data according to importance. The instructions cause the network system to send information indicative of a respective rank of at least one of the plurality of flows to at least one of a controller or a network interface card (NIC), the NIC comprising NIC processing circuitry.
