ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PREVENTING FINGERPRINT THEFT USING EXTERNAL DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18470869 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PREVENTING FINGERPRINT THEFT USING EXTERNAL DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an electronic device that includes a display, communication module, memory, and at least one processor. The processor is configured to detect an event for executing a fingerprint theft prevention service. It receives fingerprint candidate group data and determines the authentication validity of the fingerprint candidate area. The processor also evaluates the security risk of remaining fingerprints on the display and transmits a security level based on this evaluation. It outputs security guidance information on the remaining fingerprints.

  • The electronic device has a display, communication module, memory, and at least one processor.
  • The processor detects an event for executing a fingerprint theft prevention service.
  • It receives fingerprint candidate group data corresponding to a fingerprint candidate area.
  • The processor determines the authentication validity of the fingerprint candidate area.
  • It evaluates the security risk of remaining fingerprints on the display.
  • The processor transmits a security level obtained from the security risk evaluation.
  • It outputs security guidance information on the remaining fingerprints of the display.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Mobile devices with fingerprint authentication
  • Biometric security systems
  • Access control systems
  • Personal identification devices

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Preventing fingerprint theft
  • Enhancing security of fingerprint authentication
  • Minimizing the risk of unauthorized access

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved security and privacy
  • Enhanced user authentication
  • Reduced risk of identity theft
  • Increased confidence in biometric systems

Original Abstract Submitted

An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a display, a communication module, a memory, and at least one processor configured to be operatively connected to the display, the communication module, and the memory. The at least one processor may be configured to detect an occurrence of an event for executing a remaining fingerprint theft prevention service. The at least one processor may be configured to receive remaining fingerprint candidate group data corresponding to a fingerprint candidate area. The at least one processor may be configured to determine authentication validity of the fingerprint candidate area. The at least one processor may be configured to transmit a security level obtained by evaluating a security risk of remaining fingerprints remaining on the display. The at least one processor may be configured to output security guidance information on the remaining fingerprints of the display.
