METHODS FOR DEPTH CONFLICT MITIGATION IN A THREE-DIMENSIONAL ENVIRONMENT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18467523 titled 'METHODS FOR DEPTH CONFLICT MITIGATION IN A THREE-DIMENSIONAL ENVIRONMENT

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a computer system that helps mitigate depth conflicts for virtual objects in contact with physical objects in a 3D environment by adjusting visual properties or displaying the virtual object in a virtual environment within the physical environment.

  • The computer system changes visual properties of the virtual object to reduce depth conflicts.
  • The system displays the virtual object in a virtual environment within the 3D environment to address depth conflicts.
  • Visual properties of the virtual object can be adjusted based on characteristics of the depth conflict.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in virtual reality simulations, video games, architectural design, and industrial training simulations.

Problems Solved

This technology solves the problem of depth conflicts between virtual objects and physical objects in a 3D environment, improving the realism and user experience.

Benefits

The technology enhances the immersion and realism of virtual environments, making interactions between virtual and physical objects more seamless and natural.

Potential Commercial Applications

Optimizing Virtual Object Depth Conflict Mitigation Technology for Enhanced User Experience

Original Abstract Submitted

In some embodiments, a computer system facilitates depth conflict mitigation for a virtual object that is in contact with one or more physical objects in a three-dimensional environment by changing visual properties of one or more portions of the virtual object. In some embodiments, a computer system facilitates depth conflict mitigation for a virtual object that is in contact with one or more physical objects in a three-dimensional environment by displaying the virtual object in a virtual environment within the three-dimensional environment. In some embodiments, a computer system facilitates depth conflict mitigation for a virtual object that is in contact with one or more physical objects in a three-dimensional environment by variably changing visual properties of one or more portions of the virtual object and/or by variably displaying the virtual object in a virtual environment based on one or more characteristics of the depth conflict.
