BRAKING/DRIVING FORCE CONTROL SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18463489 titled 'BRAKING/DRIVING FORCE CONTROL SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a braking/driving force control system that maintains a target vehicle speed by cutting fuel and downshifting when the required braking/driving force decreases. The system ensures that the sum of the powertrain's force and the brake's force matches the required force, resulting in improved fuel efficiency and riding comfort.

  • The system cuts fuel and downshifts when the required braking/driving force decreases.
  • It adjusts the brake force to match the required force.
  • The system aims to achieve good fuel efficiency and riding comfort.

Potential Applications

  • Automotive industry
  • Transportation and logistics companies
  • Vehicle manufacturers

Problems Solved

  • Inefficient fuel consumption during braking or deceleration
  • Lack of control over braking/driving force to maintain target speed
  • Inconsistent braking force between powertrain and brake

Benefits

  • Improved fuel efficiency
  • Enhanced riding comfort
  • Better control over braking/driving force
  • Optimal coordination between powertrain and brake forces

Original Abstract Submitted

A braking/driving force control system, during control for maintaining a target vehicle speed, performs fuel cut and then, when a required braking/driving force for maintaining the target vehicle speed reduces, makes a downshift while fuel cut is continued. The braking/driving force control system causes a brake to generate a braking force such that the sum of a braking/driving force that a powertrain generates and the braking force that the brake generates agrees with the required braking/driving force. Thus, good fuel efficiency and riding comfort are obtained.
