COMPUTER VISION DETECTION OF SKIN IRRITATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18443807 titled 'COMPUTER VISION DETECTION OF SKIN IRRITATION

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes techniques for using computer vision technology to identify skin irritation from medical device wear in medical images.

  • Key Features and Innovation:
   * Subset of medical image data identified using template matching or other computer vision models.
   * Application program assists users in obtaining and evaluating medical images.
   * Allows for timely and accurate identification of skin irritation, even at initial stages.
   * Provides instructions for remediation of any skin irritation identified.

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in various medical settings where skin irritation from medical device wear is a concern, such as hospitals, clinics, and home healthcare.

Problems Solved: This technology addresses the challenge of quickly and accurately identifying skin irritation caused by medical device wear, allowing for prompt intervention and prevention of further complications.

Benefits: The benefits of this technology include early detection of skin irritation, improved patient care, and reduced risk of infections or other skin-related issues.

Commercial Applications: The technology could be used in medical imaging software, wearable medical devices, and telemedicine platforms to enhance patient monitoring and care.

Questions about Skin Irritation Detection: 1. How does computer vision technology improve the identification of skin irritation from medical device wear?

   - Computer vision technology allows for the quick and accurate analysis of medical images to detect skin irritation patterns that may not be easily visible to the naked eye.

2. What are the potential implications of early detection of skin irritation in medical settings?

   - Early detection of skin irritation can lead to timely intervention, preventing further complications and improving patient outcomes.

Original Abstract Submitted

An embodiment provides techniques for application of computer vision technology to medical images, allowing identification of skin irritation resulting from medical device wear. In certain embodiments, a subset of medical image data is identified, for example using template matching techniques or other trained computer vision model, facilitating timely and accurate identification of skin irritation, even at initial stages. An embodiment provides an application program that assists the user in obtaining and evaluating medical images, which may include instructing the user regarding any skin irritation identified, permitting remediation.
