METHODS, APPARATUS AND ARTICLES OF MANUFACTURE TO PROVIDE SECONDARY CONTENT IN ASSOCIATION WITH PRIMARY BROADCAST MEDIA CONTENT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18443302 titled 'METHODS, APPARATUS AND ARTICLES OF MANUFACTURE TO PROVIDE SECONDARY CONTENT IN ASSOCIATION WITH PRIMARY BROADCAST MEDIA CONTENT

The patent application describes a method for accessing a secondary content schedule based on watermarks detected in primary media content, to determine when to present secondary content items on a media presentation device.

  • Accessing a secondary content schedule based on detected watermarks in primary media content
  • Identifying secondary content items and associated time values in the schedule
  • Comparing time values with clock-provided values to decide when to present secondary content items
  • Displaying the selected secondary content item on a media presentation device according to the schedule

Potential Applications: - Content delivery systems - Media streaming platforms - Interactive advertising

Problems Solved: - Efficient scheduling and presentation of secondary content in media streams - Enhanced viewer engagement through targeted content delivery

Benefits: - Improved user experience - Targeted advertising opportunities - Optimal content presentation timing

Commercial Applications: Title: "Enhanced Content Delivery System for Media Platforms" This technology can be utilized in media streaming services, digital signage solutions, and interactive TV platforms to enhance user engagement and optimize content delivery.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the method determine which secondary content item to present at a given time? 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this technology on a large scale?

Frequently Updated Research: Stay updated on advancements in watermark detection technology and media content scheduling algorithms to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the described method.

Original Abstract Submitted

Example methods disclosed herein include accessing a secondary content schedule based on one or more watermarks detected in primary media content, the secondary content schedule to identify (i) one or more secondary content items and (ii) one or more first time values associated with the one or more secondary content items. Disclosed example methods also include comparing the one or more first time values associated with the one or more secondary content items in the secondary content schedule to second time values provided by a clock to determine whether to present a first one of the one or more secondary content items, the second time values based on a timestamp associated with the one or more watermarks detected in the primary media content. Disclosed example methods further include causing a media presentation device to display the first one of the secondary content items according to the secondary content schedule.
