DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18443199 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

The patent application describes a display device with specific layers and patterns that enhance its performance.

  • The device includes a substrate, a buffer layer, two active patterns, gate insulation layers, gate electrodes, a capacitor electrode, and specific permittivity values.
  • The first and second active patterns are spaced apart on the buffer layer.
  • The gate electrodes overlap the active patterns and are separated by gate insulation layers.
  • The capacitor electrode overlaps the first gate electrode and is on the second gate insulation layer.
  • The permittivity of the first gate insulation layer is higher than that of the buffer layer.

Potential Applications:

  • This technology can be used in various display devices such as LCDs, OLEDs, and microLEDs.
  • It can also be applied in touchscreens, electronic paper, and flexible displays.

Problems Solved:

  • Enhances display performance by optimizing the layers and patterns.
  • Improves the efficiency and functionality of display devices.

Benefits:

  • Higher display quality and resolution.
  • Increased energy efficiency and longer device lifespan.
  • Enhanced overall user experience with improved visual output.

Commercial Applications:

  • Display manufacturers can integrate this technology into their products to offer advanced display solutions.
  • Companies in the consumer electronics industry can utilize this innovation to enhance their product offerings and stay competitive in the market.

Questions about the Technology: 1. How does the specific permittivity values of the layers impact the overall performance of the display device? 2. What are the potential cost implications of implementing this technology in mass-produced display devices?

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device includes: a substrate; a buffer layer on the substrate; a first active pattern and a second active pattern on the buffer layer and spaced apart from each other; a first gate insulation layer on the first active pattern and the second active pattern; a first gate electrode and a second gate electrode on the first gate insulation layer, the first gate electrode and the second gate electrode respectively overlapping the first active pattern and the second active pattern; a second gate insulation layer on the first gate electrode and the second gate electrode; and a capacitor electrode on the second gate insulation layer, the capacitor electrode overlapping the first gate electrode, wherein a permittivity of the first gate insulation layer is greater than a permittivity of the buffer layer.
