CSI REPORTING - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18439410 titled 'CSI REPORTING

The patent application describes apparatuses and methods for Channel State Information (CSI) reporting in user equipment (UE). The method involves receiving a configuration for a CSI report, determining the contents of the report based on the configuration, and transmitting the report.

  • The configuration includes parameters such as N, codebookType, and typeII-Doppler-r18.
  • The CSI report includes a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) and X channel quality indicators (CQIs).
  • The PMI indicates Q Doppler domain vectors of length N.
  • The CSI report is partitioned into CSI part 1 and CSI part 2, which is further divided into groups G0, G1, and G2.
  • The transmission of the CSI report is based on a priority value, determining which portion of CSI part 2 to send.

Potential Applications: - Wireless communication systems - 5G and beyond networks - Mobile devices and base stations

Problems Solved: - Efficient reporting of channel state information - Optimization of resource allocation in wireless networks

Benefits: - Improved network performance - Enhanced spectral efficiency - Better quality of service for users

Commercial Applications: Title: "Enhanced CSI Reporting for Wireless Networks" This technology can be utilized in telecommunications companies to optimize network performance and enhance user experience. It can also be integrated into IoT devices for reliable and efficient communication.

Questions about CSI Reporting: 1. How does the configuration of the CSI report impact the transmission process? The configuration parameters in the CSI report determine the contents and structure of the report, influencing how the information is transmitted and utilized by the network.

2. What are the key benefits of partitioning the CSI report into different groups? Partitioning the CSI report allows for prioritization of information transmission based on network requirements, optimizing resource allocation and enhancing overall system performance.

Original Abstract Submitted

Apparatuses and methods for CSI reporting. A method performed by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving a configuration about a channel state information (CSI) report and determining, based on the configuration, the CSI report including a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) and X channel quality indicators (CQIs). The configuration includes a value of Nand a codebookType set to typeII-Doppler-r18. The PMI includes a first indicator indicating Q Doppler domain (DD) vectors, each of length N, where X∈{1,2}. The method further includes partitioning the CSI report into CSI part 1 and CSI part 2; partitioning the CSI part 2 further into groups G0, G1, and G2; and transmitting the CSI part 1 and at least a portion of the CSI part 2. The portion of the CSI part 2 is determined based on a priority value and corresponds to G0, (G0, G1), or (G0, G1, G2).
