CONTEXT-BASED AUTHENTICATION OF A USER - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18439020 titled 'CONTEXT-BASED AUTHENTICATION OF A USER

Simplified Explanation

A device receives a notification to authenticate a user associated with a user account of an application server. The device prompts the user to describe an operation associated with the user account for authentication. It then verifies the authentication response based on the described characteristic of the operation and allows the operation to be performed if the response is valid.

  • The device receives a notification to authenticate a user.
  • The user is prompted to provide a contextual description of an operation.
  • The authentication response is verified based on the described characteristic of the operation.
  • The operation is performed if the authentication response is valid.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in various industries such as banking, healthcare, and e-commerce for secure user authentication processes.

Problems Solved

This technology addresses the issue of user authentication by adding an additional layer of security through contextual descriptions of operations.

Benefits

- Enhanced security for user authentication - Improved user verification process - Prevention of unauthorized access to user accounts

Commercial Applications

Title: Secure User Authentication Technology This technology can be utilized by companies offering online services to enhance the security of user accounts and prevent unauthorized access, leading to increased trust and customer satisfaction.

Prior Art

There are existing technologies for user authentication, but this innovation adds a unique layer of security by incorporating contextual descriptions of operations.

Frequently Updated Research

There may be ongoing research on improving the efficiency and accuracy of user authentication processes using contextual descriptions.

Questions about Secure User Authentication Technology

Question 1

How does this technology compare to traditional methods of user authentication?

Traditional methods of user authentication typically rely on passwords or biometric data, while this technology adds an extra layer of security by requiring users to provide contextual descriptions of operations.

Question 2

What are the potential challenges of implementing this technology in different industries?

The challenges of implementing this technology may include user training, integration with existing systems, and ensuring user compliance with providing accurate contextual descriptions.

Original Abstract Submitted

In some implementations, a device may receive a notification to authenticate a user associated with a user account of an application server. The device may send, to the user device, an authentication request that prompts the user to provide a contextual description of an operation associated with the user account. The device may receive, from the user device, an authentication response that includes a described characteristic of the operation that is associated with a parameter of the operation. The device may determine whether the authentication response is valid based on a comparison of the described characteristic of the operation and the parameter of the operation. The device may cause, based on a determination that the authentication response is valid, performance of the operation based on the parameter.
