RADIO-FREQUENCY SWITCHING DEVICES HAVING IMPROVED VOLTAGE HANDLING CAPABILITY - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18438338 titled 'RADIO-FREQUENCY SWITCHING DEVICES HAVING IMPROVED VOLTAGE HANDLING CAPABILITY

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes radio-frequency (RF) switching devices with improved voltage handling capability. These devices have a stack of switching elements connected between two terminals, with a non-uniform distribution of a parameter that enhances their voltage handling capacity compared to devices with a uniform distribution of the parameter.

  • The patent application focuses on improving the voltage handling capability of RF switching devices.
  • It introduces a design with a stack of switching elements that have a non-uniform distribution of a parameter, resulting in enhanced voltage handling capacity.
  • By varying the distribution of this parameter, the switching device can handle higher voltages more effectively than traditional devices with a uniform distribution.

Potential Applications

The technology described in the patent application could be applied in various industries and applications, including:

  • Telecommunications
  • Wireless communication systems
  • Radar systems
  • Satellite communication
  • Test and measurement equipment

Companies developing RF systems could benefit from implementing this technology to improve the performance and reliability of their products.

Questions about RF Switching Devices

What are the key features of RF switching devices with improved voltage handling capability?

RF switching devices with improved voltage handling capability have a stack of switching elements with a non-uniform distribution of a parameter that enhances their voltage handling capacity compared to devices with a uniform distribution of the parameter.

How can the technology described in the patent application benefit industries like telecommunications and wireless communication?

The technology can improve the performance and reliability of RF systems used in telecommunications and wireless communication by increasing the voltage handling capacity of RF switching devices, leading to enhanced efficiency in high-frequency signal processing.

Original Abstract Submitted

Radio-frequency (RF) switching devices having improved voltage handling capability. In some embodiments, a switching device can include a first terminal and a second terminal, and a plurality of switching elements connected in series to form a stack between the first terminal and the second terminal. The switching elements can have a non-uniform distribution of a parameter that results in the stack having a first voltage handling capacity that is greater than a second voltage handling capacity corresponding to a similar stack having a substantially uniform distribution of the parameter.
