GRAPHICS RENDERING APPARATUS AND METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18435133 titled 'GRAPHICS RENDERING APPARATUS AND METHOD

The abstract describes a graphics rendering apparatus that includes a rendering unit, an input unit, and a gaze tracking unit. The rendering unit renders image content for display on a screen, while the input unit receives images of the user's eyes. The gaze tracking unit determines the region of the screen the user is looking at, and the rendering unit executes computational processes based on this information to cause visual discontinuities in the image content.

  • The apparatus includes a rendering unit, input unit, and gaze tracking unit.
  • The rendering unit processes image content for display on a screen.
  • The input unit receives images of the user's eyes.
  • The gaze tracking unit determines the user's gaze direction on the screen.
  • Computational processes are executed to create visual discontinuities based on the gaze direction.

Potential Applications: - Virtual reality and augmented reality systems - Eye-tracking technology for user interfaces - Gaming and interactive media applications

Problems Solved: - Enhancing user experience by dynamically adjusting visual content based on gaze direction - Improving immersion and realism in virtual environments - Providing more intuitive and interactive interfaces

Benefits: - Enhanced user engagement and interaction - Personalized visual experiences based on gaze behavior - Improved usability and accessibility for users with disabilities

Commercial Applications: Title: "Enhancing User Experience with Gaze-Driven Graphics Rendering" This technology can be applied in various industries such as gaming, virtual reality, advertising, and user interface design. By incorporating gaze tracking into graphics rendering, companies can create more engaging and immersive experiences for their users, leading to increased customer satisfaction and brand loyalty.

Questions about Gaze-Driven Graphics Rendering: 1. How does gaze tracking technology improve user interaction with digital content? 2. What are the potential privacy concerns associated with eye-tracking technology in graphics rendering?

Original Abstract Submitted

A graphics rendering apparatus, comprising: a rendering unit configured to render image content for display on a display screen; an input unit configured to receive one or more images of one or both eyes of a user; and a gaze tracking unit configured to determine, based on one or more of the received images, a region of the display screen towards which a gaze of the user is directed; wherein the rendering unit is configured to execute, in dependence upon the determined region of the display screen, one or more computational processes that are expected to cause a visual discontinuity to occur within at least a part of the image content, wherein the rendering unit is configured to execute the one or more computational processes with respect to one or more parts of the image content that correspond to one or more regions of the display screen that are different from the determined region of the display.
