DISK DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18434091 titled 'DISK DEVICE

The abstract describes a patent application for a disk device that includes a magnetic disk, a magnetic head, a flexible printed circuit board, an electronic component, and a wall. The flexible printed circuit board is connected to the magnetic head, and the electronic component is mounted on the board. The wall, which is rigid, is attached to the flexible printed circuit board. The board has a through hole that communicates with a gap on one surface facing the electronic component and the wall on the opposite surface. The wall also has a through hole that aligns with the board's hole.

  • The disk device includes a magnetic disk, a magnetic head, a flexible printed circuit board, an electronic component, and a wall.
  • The flexible printed circuit board is electrically connected to the magnetic head.
  • The electronic component is mounted on the flexible printed circuit board.
  • The wall, with higher rigidity than the board, is attached to the flexible printed circuit board.
  • The flexible printed circuit board has a through hole that aligns with a gap on one surface and the wall on the other surface.
  • The wall has a through hole that aligns with the board's hole.

Potential Applications: - Data storage devices - Computer systems - Information technology equipment

Commercial Applications: Title: Enhanced Disk Devices for Data Storage Systems This technology can be used in the development of more reliable and durable data storage systems for commercial applications such as servers, network storage devices, and backup systems.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the rigidity of the wall improve the performance of the disk device? 2. What are the potential cost implications of implementing this technology in data storage systems?

Original Abstract Submitted

A disk device includes a magnetic disk, a magnetic head, a flexible printed circuit board, an electronic component, and a wall. The flexible printed circuit board is electrically connected to the magnetic head. The electronic component is mounted on the flexible printed circuit board. The wall has rigidity higher than the flexible printed circuit board and is attached to the flexible printed circuit board. The flexible printed circuit board with a first through hole includes a first surface facing the electronic component with a gap, and a second surface opposite the first surface and facing the wall, the first through hole being open to the first surface and the second surface to communicate with the gap. The wall is provided with a second through hole penetrating the wall to communicate with the first through hole.
