MULTILAYER CAPACITOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18432669 titled 'MULTILAYER CAPACITOR

The multilayer capacitor described in the patent application consists of a capacitor body with a dielectric layer stacked in a first direction, along with first and second internal electrodes alternately stacked with the dielectric layer in between. The capacitor also includes first and second external electrodes on opposite surfaces of the capacitor body, connected to the internal electrodes.

  • The capacitor body is made up of a dielectric layer and internal electrodes stacked in a specific configuration.
  • First and second external electrodes are connected to the internal electrodes on opposite surfaces of the capacitor body.
  • The first internal electrode protrudes from one surface of the capacitor body, while the second internal electrode protrudes from the other surface.
  • The protrusion of the internal electrodes is within a specific range of 0.5 μm to 5 μm.

Original Abstract Submitted

A multilayer capacitor includes a capacitor body including a dielectric layer stacked in a first direction and a first internal electrode and a second internal electrode alternately stacked while being spaced apart from each other interposing the dielectric layer, and first and second external electrodes that may be disposed on a first surface and a second surface facing each other in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction of the capacitor body, respectively, and connected to the first internal electrode and the second internal electrode, respectively, where the first internal electrode may include a first end portion protruding from the first surface of the capacitor body by 0.5 μm to 5 μm, and where the second internal electrode may include a second end portion protruding from the second surface of the capacitor body by 0.5 μm to 5 μm.
