PROTECTOR AND POWER STORAGE MODULE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18426432 titled 'PROTECTOR AND POWER STORAGE MODULE

The patent application describes a protector designed to be attached to a group of power storage elements with electrode terminals.

  • The protector includes a body portion and cover portions that extend from the body portion to cover openings in different directions.
  • Each cover portion consists of a base portion, strip portions, and slits, allowing for rotation and elastic deformation to open and cover portions of the openings.
  • The design of the protector provides flexibility and protection for the electrode terminals of the power storage elements.

Potential Applications:

  • This technology can be used in various power storage systems, such as batteries and capacitors, to protect electrode terminals from damage.
  • It can also be applied in electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, and portable electronic devices to enhance safety and longevity.

Problems Solved:

  • The protector addresses the issue of exposed electrode terminals in power storage elements, reducing the risk of short circuits and other damage.
  • It provides a simple yet effective solution to protect sensitive components in various applications.

Benefits:

  • Improved safety and reliability of power storage systems.
  • Extended lifespan of power storage elements.
  • Easy installation and maintenance of the protector.

Commercial Applications:

  • The technology can be utilized by manufacturers of batteries, capacitors, electric vehicles, and consumer electronics to enhance product safety and performance.
  • It may also be of interest to companies involved in renewable energy storage systems and grid infrastructure.

Questions about the Technology: 1. How does the protector enhance the safety of power storage elements? 2. What are the key features that make this protector effective in various applications?

Original Abstract Submitted

A protector to be attached to a group of power storage elements that include electrode terminals includes a body portion and cover portions. The body portion includes openings that open in different directions and have opening edges. The cover portions extend from the opening edges of the openings and cover at least portions of the openings. Each of the cover portions includes a base portion, strip portions, and slits. The base portion is connected to the body portion via a hinge portion to be rotatable with respect to the body portion. The strip portions extend from the base portion and are elastically deformable to open a portion of a corresponding one of the openings. The slits are between the strip portions.
