TAPER-ADJUSTABLE ROLLER AND STRIP CONVEYING DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18422981 titled 'TAPER-ADJUSTABLE ROLLER AND STRIP CONVEYING DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a taper-adjustable roller with support sheets arranged around a support shaft and a push member to adjust the position of the support sheets.

  • Support sheets are arranged around a support shaft to form a roll surface.
  • Support sheets can swing relative to the support shaft.
  • A push member on the support shaft adjusts the position of the support sheets by moving their ends towards or away from the support shaft.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in conveyor systems, printing presses, and other industrial machinery where adjustable rollers are needed.

Problems Solved

This technology solves the problem of adjusting the diameter of a roller without the need for complex mechanisms or manual adjustments.

Benefits

The taper-adjustable roller allows for easy and precise adjustment of roller diameter, leading to improved efficiency and flexibility in various industrial applications.

Potential Commercial Applications

  • "Taper-Adjustable Roller Technology: Revolutionizing Industrial Machinery"

Possible Prior Art

There may be prior art related to adjustable rollers in industrial machinery, but specific examples are not provided in the patent application.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology compare to existing adjustable roller mechanisms in terms of cost and complexity?

This technology may offer a simpler and more cost-effective solution compared to traditional adjustable roller mechanisms, but a detailed comparison is not provided in the patent application.

What materials are the support sheets and support shaft typically made of, and how does this impact the performance of the taper-adjustable roller?

The patent application does not specify the materials used for the support sheets and support shaft, so further research or testing may be needed to determine the optimal materials for performance and durability.

Original Abstract Submitted

A taper-adjustable roller includes a support shaft, support sheets arranged circumferentially around the support shaft, and a first push member. Circumferential surfaces of the support sheets at sides of the support sheets facing away from the support shaft are assembled to form a roll surface. Each support sheet has a first end and a second end in an axial direction of the support shaft. The support sheets are swingable relative to the support shaft. The first push member is disposed on the support shaft, and is configured to push the first ends of the support sheets in a substantially radial direction, to move the first ends towards the support shaft and move the second ends away from the support shaft, or to move the first ends away from the support shaft and move the second ends towards the support shaft.
