DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18418370 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE
The abstract describes a display device with a unique input sensor design for improved functionality.
- The display panel has a light emitting area and a non-light-emitting area, with an input sensor placed on it.
- The input sensor consists of multiple layers including conductive and insulating layers, as well as a light absorption layer.
- One of the sensor conductive layers has a mesh opening, while the side surfaces have recessed portions for enhanced sensitivity.
- The light absorption layer is positioned within the recessed portion to optimize sensor performance.
Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in touch screen displays for smartphones, tablets, and other electronic devices. - It can also be applied in interactive kiosks, digital signage, and automotive displays.
Problems Solved: - The design addresses the need for accurate and responsive touch input on display screens. - The recessed portions and light absorption layer improve the sensor's ability to detect touch accurately.
Benefits: - Enhanced touch sensitivity and accuracy for a better user experience. - Improved durability and longevity of the input sensor due to the innovative design.
Commercial Applications: - The technology can be integrated into consumer electronics, industrial control panels, and public information displays. - It has the potential to impact the market for touch screen technology by offering a more reliable and responsive input solution.
Questions about the technology: 1. How does the light absorption layer improve the performance of the input sensor? 2. What are the specific advantages of having recessed portions on the sensor conductive layers?
Original Abstract Submitted
A display device is disclosed that includes a display panel including a light emitting area and a non-light-emitting area adjacent to the light emitting area and an input sensor disposed on the display panel. The input sensor includes a first sensor conductive layer disposed on the display panel, a first sensor insulating layer disposed on the first sensor conductive layer, and a second sensor conductive layer disposed on the first sensor insulating layer. At least one of the first sensor conductive layer and the second sensor conductive layer is provided with a mesh opening defined therethrough, at least one of a side surface of the first sensor conductive layer and a side surface of the second sensor conductive layer is provided with a recessed portion defined therein, and the input sensor further includes a light absorption layer disposed in the recessed portion.
