DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF FABRICATING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18414105 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF FABRICATING THE SAME

The display device described in the patent application includes multiple layers and structures to enhance its performance and functionality.

  • The device features first and second anodes, a bank structure with first and second openings, light-emitting layers, cathodes, encapsulation layers, and optical patterns.
  • The bank structure consists of first and second bank layers made of different materials, with the second bank layer having tips protruding beyond the first bank layer.
  • The first and second optical patterns have a different refractive index from the second encapsulation layer, providing improved optical properties.

Potential Applications:

  • This technology can be used in various display devices such as OLED screens, TVs, smartphones, and wearable devices.
  • It can also be applied in medical devices, automotive displays, and augmented reality systems.

Problems Solved:

  • Enhances the optical performance of display devices.
  • Improves the durability and longevity of the display.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced image quality and brightness.
  • Increased device lifespan.
  • Improved viewing angles and color accuracy.

Commercial Applications:

  • This technology can be utilized by display manufacturers to create high-quality products with superior optical performance, catering to a wide range of industries and consumer electronics markets.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the different refractive index of the optical patterns impact the display quality? 2. What are the specific materials used in the first and second bank layers of the bank structure?

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device includes first and second anodes on a substrate, a bank structure provided with first and second openings overlapping the first and second anodes, first and second light-emitting layers on the first and second anodes, first and second cathodes on the first and second light-emitting layers, a first encapsulation layer including first and second inorganic layers on the first and second cathodes, first and second optical patterns on the first and second inorganic layers in the first and second openings, a second encapsulation layer on the first encapsulation layer and the first and second optical patterns. The bank structure includes first and second bank layers including different materials, and the second bank layer includes a tip protruding beyond the first bank layer on sidewalls defining the first and second openings, and the first and second optical patterns have a different refractive index from the second encapsulation layer.
