DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18396447 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

The abstract describes a display device with a transistor, planarization layer, anode electrode, bank, organic layer, cathode electrode, and capping layer with varying refractive indices.

  • Transistor positioned above a substrate
  • Planarization layer with an open area for anode electrode
  • Bank covering part of the anode electrode with a corresponding open area
  • Organic layer on the exposed anode electrode
  • Cathode electrode on the organic layer
  • Capping layer with three layers of different refractive indices

Potential Applications: - Display technology - Lighting applications - Electronic devices

Problems Solved: - Enhanced display quality - Improved light emission efficiency

Benefits: - Higher display resolution - Better color reproduction - Energy-efficient lighting solutions

Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Display Technology for Enhanced Visual Experience This technology can be used in high-resolution displays, OLED TVs, smartphones, and lighting fixtures, catering to the consumer electronics and lighting industries.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the varying refractive indices in the capping layer improve display quality?

  - The different refractive indices help in reducing reflection and enhancing light transmission, leading to improved display performance.

2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this technology in mass-produced devices?

  - Some challenges may include manufacturing complexities and cost considerations, which need to be addressed for widespread adoption.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device includes a transistor above a substrate, a planarization layer above the transistor and having a first open area, an anode electrode in the first open area as well as a side portion and a part of a top surface of the planarization layer opposite to the first open area, a bank covering a part of the anode electrode and having a second open area corresponding to the first open area, an organic layer on the anode electrode exposed by the second open area, a cathode electrode on the organic layer, and a capping layer above the cathode electrode and including a first capping layer having a first refractive index, a second capping layer having a second refractive index, and a third capping layer having a third refractive index. The first refractive index and the third refractive index are relatively lower than the second refractive index.
