INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18396312 titled 'INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes an information processing apparatus capable of calculating a respiratory feature amount to evaluate a subject's breathing motor function. It analyzes time-series distance image data obtained during a breathing exercise to determine breathing patterns.

  • Inputs time-series distance image data and division position data
  • Calculates a standard deviation image for each pixel in the distance image
  • Determines a respiratory feature amount based on the standard deviation image for different regions of the subject's body

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Calculates respiratory feature amount based on distance image data
  • Analyzes breathing patterns using standard deviation images
  • Provides a quantitative measure of breathing motor function

Potential Applications:

  • Medical diagnostics for respiratory conditions
  • Physical therapy monitoring
  • Sports performance analysis

Problems Solved:

  • Quantifying breathing motor function
  • Monitoring changes in breathing patterns
  • Providing objective data for evaluation

Benefits:

  • Objective assessment of breathing function
  • Early detection of respiratory issues
  • Personalized treatment plans based on data

Commercial Applications: Respiratory monitoring devices for healthcare providers and fitness professionals

Prior Art: Potential areas to explore for prior art include medical imaging technologies for respiratory analysis and data processing methods for physiological measurements.

Frequently Updated Research: Stay informed on advancements in medical imaging technologies and data analysis methods for respiratory assessment.

Questions about Respiratory Feature Calculation: 1. How does the information processing apparatus differentiate between chest and abdominal regions in the distance image data? 2. What are the potential implications of using respiratory feature calculation in sports performance analysis?

Original Abstract Submitted

An information processing apparatus and the like capable of calculating a respiratory feature amount necessary for evaluating a breathing motor function of a subject is provided. The information processing apparatus inputs time-series distance image data acquired by measuring a distance from the subject during a breathing exercise and division position data indicating a position at which a chest region and an abdominal region of the subject are divided in the time-series distance image data. The information processing apparatus calculates a standard deviation image indicating a standard deviation of values for each pixel in a distance image indicated by the time-series distance image data. The information processing apparatus calculates a respiratory feature amount indicating a feature of breathing of the subject, based on a divided standard deviation image acquired by dividing the standard deviation image for each divided region being divided at a position indicated by the division position data.
