INTEGRATED CIRCUIT INCLUDING SWITCH CELL AREA - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18393092 titled 'INTEGRATED CIRCUIT INCLUDING SWITCH CELL AREA

The abstract describes an integrated circuit with multiple power rails providing different supply voltages, along with a power line for a global power supply voltage.

  • Plurality of first power rails for first power supply voltage
  • Plurality of second power rails for second power supply voltage
  • Power line for global power supply voltage
  • Alternating arrangement of power rails in different directions
  • Front-side pattern on the same layer for power rails and power line

Potential Applications: - Integrated circuits in electronic devices - Power management systems in various industries

Problems Solved: - Efficient power distribution in integrated circuits - Optimization of power supply voltages

Benefits: - Improved performance and reliability of integrated circuits - Enhanced power management capabilities

Commercial Applications: Title: "Advanced Power Management Integrated Circuits for Enhanced Performance" This technology can be used in smartphones, computers, IoT devices, and other electronic systems to optimize power distribution and enhance overall performance.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the alternating arrangement of power rails improve power distribution efficiency? 2. What are the specific advantages of having a global power supply voltage in an integrated circuit?

Original Abstract Submitted

An integrated circuit includes: a plurality of first power rails extending in a first horizontal direction and configured to provide a first power supply voltage that is applied thereto; a plurality of second power rails extending in the first horizontal direction and configured to provide a second power supply voltage that is applied thereto; and a power line in a switch cell area and extending in the first horizontal direction the power line being configured to provide a global power supply voltage that is applied thereto, wherein the plurality of first power rails and the plurality of second power rails are alternately arranged in a second horizontal direction vertical to the first horizontal direction, wherein the plurality of first power rails, the plurality of second power rails, and the power line form a front-side pattern on a same layer, and wherein the power line is provided between two second power rails adjacent to each other in the first horizontal direction, among the plurality of second power rails.
