PROCESS FOR CONVERTING OLEFINS TO JET FUEL - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18391587 titled 'PROCESS FOR CONVERTING OLEFINS TO JET FUEL
Simplified Explanation: This patent application describes a process for converting olefins into distillate fuels through dimerization and oligomerization, followed by hydrocracking and potentially hydroisomerization to produce jet fuel range oligomers. A jet fuel product stream is obtained from a stripping column to meet boiling specifications.
- The process converts olefins into distillate fuels.
- Oligomerized product undergoes hydrocracking and potentially hydroisomerization.
- Jet fuel range oligomers are produced.
- A jet fuel product stream is obtained from a stripping column.
- End point boiling specifications are achieved.
Potential Applications: This technology can be used in the petroleum industry for the production of jet fuel and other distillate fuels. It can also be applied in refineries to improve fuel quality and meet specific boiling point requirements.
Problems Solved: This technology addresses the need for converting olefins into higher value distillate fuels, particularly jet fuel. It also helps in achieving precise boiling point specifications for different fuel products.
Benefits: - Production of high-quality jet fuel - Conversion of olefins into valuable distillate fuels - Meeting specific boiling point requirements - Improved fuel quality and performance
Commercial Applications: The technology can be commercially used in refineries and petrochemical plants to produce jet fuel and other distillate fuels. It can help companies meet regulatory standards and market demands for high-quality fuels.
Prior Art: Readers interested in prior art related to this technology can explore patents and research papers on olefin conversion, hydrocracking, and jet fuel production in the petroleum industry.
Frequently Updated Research: Researchers are continually studying ways to optimize the conversion of olefins into distillate fuels, improve hydrocracking processes, and enhance the production of jet fuel range oligomers.
Questions about Olefin Conversion: 1. How does this technology improve the production of jet fuel? 2. What are the key steps involved in converting olefins into distillate fuels?
Original Abstract Submitted
A process for dimerizing and oligomerizing olefins to distillate fuels which subjects oligomerized product to hydrocracking and perhaps hydroisomerization to convert heavier oligomers to jet fuel range oligomers. A jet fuel product stream may be taken from a side of a stripping column which produces a heavy drag stream from a bottom of the stripping column to ensure an end point boiling specification is achieved.
