CASE AND TIMEPIECE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18381720 titled 'CASE AND TIMEPIECE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a case for a device with an exterior member that covers the upper part of the case. The case has a catching portion, while the exterior member has an engaging portion that prevents it from being detached when attached to the case. The support area of the engaging portion is made of a material with lower hardness than the adjacent area.

  • Device case with catching portion
  • Exterior member with engaging portion
  • Support area with lower hardness material

Potential Applications

The technology described in this patent application could be applied in various industries such as electronics, telecommunications, and consumer goods where protective cases are used to cover devices.

Problems Solved

This technology solves the problem of exterior members detaching from device cases, providing a secure and durable attachment mechanism.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include improved protection for devices, increased durability of the case, and a secure attachment that prevents accidental detachment.

Potential Commercial Applications

The technology could be commercialized in the manufacturing of smartphone cases, tablet covers, camera enclosures, and other protective accessories for electronic devices.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be existing device cases with detachable exterior members, but without the specific engagement mechanism described in this patent application.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology compare to existing attachment mechanisms for device cases?

This technology provides a more secure attachment compared to traditional methods, but further testing and comparison with existing mechanisms would be needed to fully assess its advantages.

What materials are commonly used in the manufacturing of device cases and exterior members?

Common materials used in device cases include plastic, silicone, and metal, while exterior members are often made of similar materials with varying levels of hardness. Further research into material selection and compatibility with this technology could provide valuable insights for manufacturers.

Original Abstract Submitted

A case including a device case, and an exterior member which is attached covering an outer circumferential surface of an upper part of the device case, in which the device case has a catching portion formed in an outer circumferential portion thereof, the exterior member has an engaging portion which is formed on an inner side portion thereof, engages with the catching portion when the exterior member is attached to the device case, and prevents the exterior member from being detached from the device case, and a support area which supports the engaging portion of the exterior member is formed of a material whose hardness is lower than hardness of a material of an area adjacent to the support area.
