DISPLAY DEVICE AND DRIVING METHOD THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18381489 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE AND DRIVING METHOD THEREOF

The abstract describes a display device with a display panel, data driver, gate driver, timing controller, and power controller. The power controller detects defects in the display panel and generates defect signals, which are stored by the timing controller.

  • Display device with a display panel and sub-pixels.
  • Data driver applies data signals to sub-pixels.
  • Gate driver applies gate signals to sub-pixels.
  • Timing controller outputs control signals to drivers.
  • Power controller detects and generates defect signals.
  • Timing controller stores defect-related information.

Questions about Display Device Technology: 1. How does the power controller detect defects in the display panel?

The power controller detects defects by analyzing the performance of the sub-pixels in the display panel and generating defect signals accordingly.

2. What are the potential applications of this display device technology in the consumer electronics industry?

This technology can be used in smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other consumer electronics to enhance display quality and user experience.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device can include a display panel having a plurality of sub-pixels, a data driver configured to apply a data signal to the plurality of sub-pixels, a gate driver configured to apply a gate signal to the plurality of sub-pixels, a timing controller configured to output control signals to the data driver and the gate driver, and a power controller configured to detect a defect associated with the display panel, and generate and output a defect signal corresponding on a type of the detected defect. The timing controller stores defect-related information associated with the defect signal.
