RECORDING APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD, AND STORAGE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18376080 titled 'RECORDING APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD, AND STORAGE MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation

The present invention relates to a recording apparatus that includes a conveyance path, a conveying unit, a detecting unit, and a control unit. The control unit is configured to execute first control for conveying a recording medium toward the upstream side with the conveying unit and second control for conveying the recording medium toward the downstream side with the conveying unit based on the position of the trailing edge of the recording medium.

  • Conveyance path for recording medium
  • Conveying unit to move the recording medium
  • Detecting unit to detect the edge of the recording medium
  • Control unit to execute first or second control based on the position of the trailing edge

Potential Applications

The technology can be applied in various industries such as printing, packaging, and labeling where precise control of the recording medium is required during the conveying process.

Problems Solved

1. Ensures accurate positioning of the recording medium during conveyance 2. Prevents misalignment or damage to the recording medium

Benefits

1. Improved efficiency in recording processes 2. Reduced errors and waste of recording media 3. Enhanced control and accuracy in conveying operations

Potential Commercial Applications

Optimizing recording processes in industries such as printing, packaging, and labeling can lead to increased productivity and cost savings. The technology can be integrated into existing systems to improve overall efficiency.

Possible Prior Art

Prior art in the field of recording apparatus may include systems with basic conveying and control mechanisms. However, the specific control based on the position of the trailing edge of the recording medium as described in this invention may be a novel feature.

Original Abstract Submitted

One embodiment of the present invention provides a recording apparatus including: a conveyance path through which a recording medium is caused to pass from an upstream side to a downstream side in a conveyance direction; a conveying unit disposed on the conveyance path and configured to convey a recording medium; a detecting unit configured to detect an edge of a recording medium in the conveyance path; and a control unit configured to execute first control for conveying a recording medium toward the upstream side with the conveying pit and second control for conveying the recording medium toward the downstream side with the conveying unit. After the detecting unit detects a trailing edge of a recording medium, the control unit executes the first control or the second control based on a position of the trailing edge of the recording medium.
