SLIDING DOOR DEVICE FOR VEHICLE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18367892 titled 'SLIDING DOOR DEVICE FOR VEHICLE

The patent application describes a sliding door device for a vehicle that is located at the lateral side of a chassis cab and can slide in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle to open or close an opening in the chassis cab.

  • Pair of sliding rails on the upper and lower portions of the chassis cab curve rearward towards the cab frame.
  • Doors are slidable along the sliding rails and are positioned so that their upper-end surfaces align with the upper-end surface of the chassis cab when not slid, but protrude outwardly when slid.

Potential Applications: - This sliding door device can be used in various types of vehicles such as trucks, vans, or buses. - It can also be applied in industrial settings where sliding doors are needed for access control or partitioning.

Problems Solved: - Provides a convenient and space-saving solution for opening and closing doors in vehicles. - Ensures a smooth sliding motion without any level differences between the doors and the chassis cab.

Benefits: - Enhances the functionality and aesthetics of vehicles with a seamless sliding door mechanism. - Improves accessibility and ease of use for passengers or cargo loading and unloading.

Commercial Applications: Sliding door devices like this can be highly beneficial for manufacturers of commercial vehicles, transportation companies, and industrial facilities looking to optimize space and improve efficiency.

Questions about Sliding Door Device: 1. How does this sliding door device compare to traditional hinged doors in terms of functionality and space-saving capabilities? 2. What materials are typically used in the construction of sliding door devices for vehicles, and how does it impact durability and performance?

Original Abstract Submitted

A sliding door device for a vehicle is provided at a lateral side of a chassis cab of a vehicle to slide in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle and configured to open or close an opening formed in the chassis cab and includes: a pair of sliding rails provided on at least one of upper and lower portions of the chassis cab, extending in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, and each including a shape curved rearward toward the cab frame, and doors configured to be slidable along the sliding rails and positioned so that upper-end surfaces thereof are positioned without a level difference from an upper-end surface of the chassis cab in a state in which the doors are not slid, the doors being positioned so that the upper-end surfaces thereof protrude outwardly from the upper-end surface of the chassis cab in a state in which the doors are slid.
