SECURE CONTROL INFORMATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18365946 titled 'SECURE CONTROL INFORMATION

The abstract of this patent application describes methods, components, devices, and systems for securing frames by transmitting frames with specific fields for verification.

  • The frame includes an identifier (ID) of a security key, a packet number (PN), and an integrity check based on portions of the frame and the security key.
  • A receiving device can verify the frame by calculating another integrity check based on the frame and the identified security key and comparing it to the received integrity check.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be applied in secure communication systems to ensure the authenticity and integrity of transmitted frames. - It can be used in IoT devices to prevent unauthorized access and tampering of data. - The innovation can also find applications in industrial control systems to enhance cybersecurity measures.

Problems Solved: - Ensures secure transmission of frames by verifying their integrity. - Prevents unauthorized access and tampering of data. - Enhances cybersecurity measures in various systems and devices.

Benefits: - Improved security and authenticity of transmitted frames. - Enhanced protection against unauthorized access and data tampering. - Increased trust in the integrity of communication systems.

Commercial Applications: Secure communication systems, IoT devices, industrial control systems, cybersecurity solutions.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this technology improve the security of transmitted frames? 2. What are the potential implications of using this innovation in IoT devices?

Original Abstract Submitted

This disclosure provides methods, components, devices, and systems for securing frames. In some examples, a frame is transmitted with a field that includes an identifier (ID) of a security key, a packet number (PN), and an integrity check based on one or more portions of the control frame and the security key. A device receiving the frame can verify the frame by calculating another integrity check based on the frame and the identified security key and comparing the calculated integrity check to the received integrity check.
