METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PROVISION KEY FOR BASE STATION VERIFICATION IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18361187 titled 'METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PROVISION KEY FOR BASE STATION VERIFICATION IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The disclosed patent application is about a communication system (5G or 6G) that supports a higher data transmission rate. It describes methods and devices in a wireless communication system. The system information received from a base station includes information related to a public key of the base station. The terminal determines if the public key is stored in it. If the public key is stored and the system information includes signature information of the base station, the terminal verifies the signature of the base station. Based on the verification, the terminal connects to the base station or searches for another base station.

  • The patent application describes a communication system for higher data transmission rate in 5G or 6G.
  • It includes methods and devices for wireless communication.
  • The system information received from a base station contains information related to the base station's public key.
  • The terminal checks if it has the public key stored.
  • If the public key is stored and the system information has the base station's signature, the terminal verifies the signature.
  • Based on the verification, the terminal connects to the base station or searches for another base station.

Potential Applications

  • This technology can be applied in 5G or 6G communication systems to support higher data transmission rates.
  • It can enhance the security and authentication process in wireless communication.

Problems Solved

  • The technology solves the problem of verifying the authenticity of a base station in a wireless communication system.
  • It addresses the challenge of securely connecting to a base station and ensuring data integrity.

Benefits

  • The technology improves the security of wireless communication systems by verifying the base station's signature.
  • It enhances the reliability and trustworthiness of the connection between a terminal and a base station.
  • The higher data transmission rate supported by this technology enables faster and more efficient communication.

Original Abstract Submitted

The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. Methods and devices in a wireless communication system are provided. System information is received from a base station. The system information includes information related to a public key of a base station. It is determined whether the public key corresponding to the information related to the public key is stored in the terminal. In case that the public key is stored in the terminal and the system information includes signature information of the base station, a signature of the base station is verified. The base station is connected to or another base station is searched for, based on whether the signature of the base station is verified.
