DRIVER ASSISTANCE DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18359388 titled 'DRIVER ASSISTANCE DEVICE
Simplified Explanation
The present patent application describes a driver assistance device that uses a recognition sensor and a processor to assist in collision avoidance between a subject vehicle and another vehicle on the road. The recognition sensor includes a camera that captures an image of the other vehicle and is able to recognize the situation around the subject vehicle. The processor is then able to execute a driver assistance process based on the information detected by the recognition sensor.
- The device includes a recognition sensor with a camera that captures images of other vehicles on the road.
- The recognition sensor is able to recognize the situation around the subject vehicle.
- The processor is able to execute a driver assistance process to assist in collision avoidance between the subject vehicle and another vehicle.
- The processor can predict whether the other vehicle will perform a lane change based on traveling information detected by the recognition sensor.
- The driver assistance process is executed in a mode determined by the prediction result.
Potential applications of this technology:
- Driver assistance systems in vehicles to improve safety on the road.
- Autonomous vehicles that can predict and respond to lane changes of other vehicles.
- Advanced collision avoidance systems in transportation vehicles.
Problems solved by this technology:
- Helps to prevent collisions between vehicles by assisting in collision avoidance.
- Improves the safety of driving by predicting and responding to lane changes of other vehicles.
Benefits of this technology:
- Enhances the safety of driving by providing assistance in collision avoidance.
- Reduces the risk of accidents by predicting and responding to lane changes of other vehicles.
- Improves overall traffic flow and efficiency by assisting in smooth lane changes.
Original Abstract Submitted
A driver assistance device according to the present disclosure includes a recognition sensor and a processor. The recognition sensor includes a camera that captures an image of another vehicle on a road having two or more lanes intersecting with a traveling lane of a subject vehicle, and is configured to recognize a situation around the subject vehicle. The processor is configured to execute a driver assistance process of assisting collision avoidance between the subject vehicle and the another vehicle. The processor is configured to predict whether or not the another vehicle performs a lane change from a farther lane to a closer lane when viewed from the subject vehicle, based on other-vehicle traveling information which is traveling information of the another vehicle detected by the recognition sensor. The processor is configured to execute the driver assistance process in a mode according to a result of the prediction.
