UPLINK CONTROL SIGNALING FOR PDCCH MONITORING - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18356108 titled 'UPLINK CONTROL SIGNALING FOR PDCCH MONITORING

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods and apparatuses for uplink control signaling in a wireless communication system, specifically for monitoring the physical downlink control channel (PDCCH). The method involves receiving information about operation states and resources for physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) transmissions. Based on this information, the method determines the operation states and a resource for the cell and transmits a PUCCH using the determined resource.

  • The patent application focuses on improving uplink control signaling in wireless communication systems.
  • It introduces a method for monitoring the physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) using the physical uplink control channel (PUCCH).
  • The method involves receiving information about operation states and resources for PUCCH transmissions.
  • Based on this information, the method determines the operation states and a resource for the cell.
  • It then transmits a PUCCH using the determined resource.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless communication systems: The described methods and apparatuses can be applied in various wireless communication systems to improve uplink control signaling efficiency.
  • Cellular networks: This technology can be implemented in cellular networks to enhance the monitoring of the physical downlink control channel.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Inefficient uplink control signaling: The technology addresses the issue of inefficient uplink control signaling by introducing a method for monitoring the physical downlink control channel using the physical uplink control channel.
  • Resource allocation: The method helps in determining the appropriate resource for PUCCH transmissions, improving resource allocation efficiency.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved efficiency: By monitoring the physical downlink control channel using the physical uplink control channel, the technology enhances the efficiency of uplink control signaling in wireless communication systems.
  • Enhanced resource allocation: The method helps in determining the optimal resource for PUCCH transmissions, leading to improved resource allocation efficiency in cellular networks.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods and apparatuses for uplink control signaling for physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring in a wireless communication system. A method includes receiving first information for a set of operation states for a cell and second information for a set of resources for physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) transmissions. The method further includes determining, at a first time, first one or more operation states, from the set of operation states, for the cell and a resource from the set of resources based on the first one or more operation states for the cell. The method further includes transmitting, in response to the determination at the first time, a first PUCCH using the resource.
