IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS, IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD, SYSTEM, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER-READABLE STORAGE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18356076 titled 'IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS, IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD, SYSTEM, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER-READABLE STORAGE MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation

The image processing apparatus described in the patent application consists of processors and memories that contain instructions. When these instructions are executed by the processors, they perform two main functions: specification and correction.

  • Specification Unit:
  - Based on a parameter of an image capturing unit, the specification unit determines a specific region captured by the image capturing unit.
  - This region is then displayed on a screen that contains multiple display panels.
  • Correction Unit:
  - The correction unit calculates a correction amount for the luminance value of a pixel in the specified region.
  - The direction from the pixel to the image capturing unit is used to obtain this correction amount.
  - Information regarding individual differences in the luminance of display panels is used to correct the calculated correction amount.

Potential Applications of this Technology: - This image processing apparatus can be used in various fields where image correction and specification are required, such as photography, video editing, and medical imaging. - It can also be applied in surveillance systems to enhance image quality and accuracy.

Problems Solved by this Technology: - The apparatus solves the problem of incorrect or inconsistent luminance values in captured images by correcting the luminance values based on individual differences in display panel luminance. - It also addresses the issue of accurately specifying a region of interest in an image, ensuring that the desired area is captured and displayed correctly.

Benefits of this Technology: - The image processing apparatus improves the overall image quality by correcting luminance values and ensuring accurate specification of regions. - It enhances the user experience by providing more precise control over image capturing and display. - The correction of individual differences in display panel luminance helps to achieve consistent and uniform image quality across multiple panels.

Original Abstract Submitted

An image processing apparatus comprises one or more processors and one or more memories containing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to function as a specification unit configured to, based on a parameter of an image capturing unit, specify a region captured by the image capturing unit in a display screen in which display panels are arrayed, and a correction unit configured to, based on a direction from a pixel in the region to the image capturing unit, obtain a correction amount of a luminance value of the pixel, and based on information for correcting an individual difference regarding a luminance of a display panel, correct the correction amount.
