DOOR CONTROL DEVICE AND VEHICLE HAVING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18344224 titled 'DOOR CONTROL DEVICE AND VEHICLE HAVING THE SAME

The patent application describes a door control device that can secure the position of a door based on various factors such as gear position, obstacle presence, and wind speed.

  • The device includes a communicator to receive information on gear position, obstacles, and wind speed.
  • A processor analyzes this information to determine the gear position, obstacle presence, and wind speed.
  • If the gear position is at parking and an obstacle exists, or if the wind speed exceeds a certain threshold at parking, the safety device of the door is controlled to secure the door position.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in automated doors in buildings or vehicles to enhance safety and security. - It can also be applied in garage doors or industrial settings where wind speed and obstacles can affect door operation.

Problems Solved: - Ensures the door remains secure in potentially hazardous conditions. - Prevents accidents or damage caused by doors opening unexpectedly.

Benefits: - Improved safety for users of doors in various environments. - Prevents damage to property or vehicles due to door malfunctions.

Commercial Applications: - Commercial buildings, residential homes, parking garages, and industrial facilities can benefit from this technology to enhance door safety and security.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the device determine the presence of obstacles in front of the door? 2. What measures are in place to prevent false alarms or unnecessary door securing actions?

Original Abstract Submitted

A door control device includes a communicator configured to receive gear position information, obstacle information, and wind speed information, and a processor. The processor is configured to determine at least two of a gear position, presence or absence of an obstacle, or a wind speed based on the gear position information, the obstacle information, and the wind speed information, and, based on a determination that (i) the gear position is at parking and the obstacle exists or (ii) the gear position is at parking and the wind speed is greater than or equal to a reference wind speed, control a safety device of a door to secure a position of the door.
