DOOR CONTROL DEVICE AND VEHICLE HAVING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18344224 titled 'DOOR CONTROL DEVICE AND VEHICLE HAVING THE SAME

The patent application describes a door control device that can secure the position of a door based on various factors such as gear position, obstacle presence, and wind speed.

  • The device includes a communicator to receive gear position, obstacle, and wind speed information.
  • A processor analyzes this data to determine gear position, obstacle presence, and wind speed.
  • If the gear position is in parking mode and an obstacle is detected, or if the wind speed exceeds a certain threshold, the safety device of the door is activated to secure its position.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in automated doors in buildings to enhance safety and security. - It can also be applied in garage doors to prevent accidents and damage in case of obstacles or strong winds.

Problems Solved: - Addresses the issue of doors being left open due to external factors like obstacles or high wind speeds. - Improves safety measures by automatically securing doors in potentially hazardous situations.

Benefits: - Enhances the safety of door systems in various environments. - Reduces the risk of accidents and property damage caused by doors being left open unintentionally.

Commercial Applications: - Commercial buildings, residential properties, and industrial facilities can benefit from this technology to improve door control and safety measures.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the device differentiate between different gear positions and respond accordingly? 2. What are the specific safety mechanisms activated by the device in response to obstacles or high wind speeds?

Original Abstract Submitted

A door control device includes a communicator configured to receive gear position information, obstacle information, and wind speed information, and a processor. The processor is configured to determine at least two of a gear position, presence or absence of an obstacle, or a wind speed based on the gear position information, the obstacle information, and the wind speed information, and, based on a determination that (i) the gear position is at parking and the obstacle exists or (ii) the gear position is at parking and the wind speed is greater than or equal to a reference wind speed, control a safety device of a door to secure a position of the door.
