ROUTING BASED ON DETECTED STOPS - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18341699 titled 'ROUTING BASED ON DETECTED STOPS
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a system where a mobile device transmits traffic information to a server for analysis, including detecting stops and durations of stops, to identify traffic patterns indicating locations of stop signs and/or stop lights.
- Mobile device sends traffic information to server for analysis
- Analysis includes detecting stops and durations of stops
- Traffic patterns are used to identify locations of stop signs and/or stop lights
- Durations of stops are associated with time of day and/or day of the week
- Navigational routes are determined based on stop sign and/or stop light information, including delays caused by them
- Potential Applications
- Traffic management systems - Navigation apps with real-time traffic updates - City planning for optimizing traffic flow
- Problems Solved
- Identifying locations of stop signs and stop lights - Analyzing traffic patterns for better route planning - Reducing delays caused by traffic signals
- Benefits
- Improved traffic flow - Reduced travel times - Enhanced navigation experience
Original Abstract Submitted
In some implementations, a mobile device transmit traffic information to a server for analysis. The traffic information includes movement information including detected stops and durations of detected stops. The traffic information is analyzed to detect traffic patterns that indicate locations of stop signs and/or stop lights. The traffic information is analyzed to determine durations of stops at stop signs and/or stop lights. The durations of stops is associated with a time of day and/or day of the week. In some implementations, navigational routes is determined based stop sign and/or stop light information, including the delays attributable to detected stop signs and/or stop lights.
