Apparatus and Method for Controlling Vehicle - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18330577 titled 'Apparatus and Method for Controlling Vehicle
Simplified Explanation
The embodiment apparatus described in the patent application is designed to control a vehicle by predicting and preventing flooding situations based on weather data, precipitation data, and image data.
- Communication device obtains weather data
- Sensor obtains precipitation data
- Image acquisition device obtains image data around the vehicle
- Controller determines possibility of flooding based on weather and precipitation data
- Controller predicts future flooding situations based on weather, precipitation, or image data
Potential Applications
This technology could be applied in various industries such as transportation, logistics, and emergency services to prevent vehicles from being flooded during extreme weather conditions.
Problems Solved
This technology addresses the problem of vehicles being at risk of flooding during heavy rainfall or other weather events, which can cause damage and pose safety hazards.
Benefits
The benefits of this technology include increased safety for vehicle occupants, reduced risk of damage to vehicles, and improved decision-making for drivers and fleet operators.
Potential Commercial Applications
One potential commercial application of this technology could be in the development of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for vehicles to enhance safety and prevent accidents caused by flooding.
Possible Prior Art
One possible prior art for this technology could be existing flood detection systems for buildings or infrastructure, which may not be specifically designed for vehicles.
What are the specific types of weather data obtained by the communication device?
The specific types of weather data obtained by the communication device could include temperature, humidity, wind speed, and precipitation forecasts.
How does the controller determine the current state of the vehicle based on the image data?
The controller may use image processing algorithms to analyze the image data and identify any signs of flooding, such as water levels around the vehicle or obstacles in the path that could contribute to flooding.
Original Abstract Submitted
An embodiment apparatus for controlling a vehicle includes a communication device configured to obtain weather data in an area where the vehicle is located, a sensor configured to obtain precipitation data, an image acquisition device configured to obtain image data around the vehicle, and a controller configured to determine a possibility of flooding of the vehicle based on the weather data obtained from the communication device and the precipitation data obtained from the sensor and, in response to a determination that it is possible for the vehicle to be flooded, determine a current state of the vehicle based on the image data and predict a future flooding situation based on the weather data, the precipitation data, or the image data.
