CONTENT ITEM SCRUBBING TECHNIQUES - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18329224 titled 'CONTENT ITEM SCRUBBING TECHNIQUES
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a technique for scrubbing through a content item while using a user interface. The technique involves receiving input for scrubbing through the content item, where the input includes a first part directed to a region of the user interface without a scrubber bar, and a second part involving movement in that region. If the input satisfies certain criteria, the content item is scrubbed through based on the movement in the region.
- The technique allows users to scrub through a content item using a user interface.
- The input for scrubbing through the content item is divided into two parts: a first part directed to a region without a scrubber bar, and a second part involving movement in that region.
- The content item is scrubbed through based on the movement in the region if certain criteria are met.
Potential Applications
- Video playback applications could use this technique to allow users to easily scrub through videos without the need for a traditional scrubber bar.
- Audio streaming applications could implement this technique to enable users to quickly navigate through audio tracks.
- E-book readers could utilize this technique to provide a more intuitive way for users to navigate through the pages of a book.
Problems Solved
- Traditional scrubbing techniques often require a dedicated scrubber bar, which can take up valuable screen space and may not be suitable for all user interfaces.
- Users may find it difficult to accurately scrub through content items using touch-based input devices.
- Existing scrubbing techniques may not provide a seamless and intuitive user experience.
Benefits
- The technique allows for a more flexible and adaptable user interface by eliminating the need for a dedicated scrubber bar.
- Users can easily scrub through content items using a combination of touch-based input and movement in a specific region of the user interface.
- The technique provides a more intuitive and seamless user experience for scrubbing through content items.
Original Abstract Submitted
In some embodiments, a content item scrubbing technique includes, while displaying a user interface including a content item, receiving, via one or more input devices, an input for scrubbing through the content item, wherein the input for scrubbing through the content item includes a first part directed to a region corresponding to a portion of the user interface that does not include a scrubber bar, and a second part including movement in the region, and in response to receiving the input for scrubbing through the content item, and in accordance with a determination that the input for scrubbing through the content item satisfies one or more first criteria, scrubbing through the content item in accordance with the movement in the region.
