DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18303242 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

The patent application describes a display device with a unique cathode electrode layer that includes a conductive organic material layer to reduce damage and prevent external defect-causing factors from penetrating the organic light-emissive layer.

  • The display device consists of a substrate, an organic light-emissive layer, and a cathode electrode layer.
  • The cathode electrode layer is composed of a first electrode layer, a second electrode layer made of conductive organic material, and a third electrode layer.
  • The second electrode layer can absorb heat from a laser to protect the third electrode layer from damage.
  • This design helps minimize the penetration of external defect-causing factors into the organic light-emissive layer.

Potential Applications: - OLED displays - Lighting panels - Flexible displays

Problems Solved: - Damage prevention in display devices - Reduction of external defect-causing factors

Benefits: - Enhanced durability of display devices - Improved performance and longevity - Reduced maintenance costs

Commercial Applications: Title: "Innovative Cathode Electrode Layer for Enhanced Display Durability" This technology can be utilized in the manufacturing of OLED displays, lighting panels, and flexible displays, leading to more durable and reliable products in the market.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the conductive organic material layer in the cathode electrode layer contribute to reducing damage in the display device? - The conductive organic material layer absorbs heat from a laser, protecting the third electrode layer from damage. 2. What are the potential long-term benefits of implementing this innovative cathode electrode layer in display devices? - The long-term benefits include enhanced durability, improved performance, and reduced maintenance costs.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device includes a substrate; an organic light-emissive layer disposed on the substrate; and a cathode electrode layer disposed on the organic light-emissive layer, wherein the cathode electrode layer includes: a first electrode layer disposed on the organic light-emissive layer; a second electrode layer disposed on the first electrode layer; and a third electrode layer disposed on the second electrode layer, wherein the second electrode layer is a conductive organic material layer. The second electrode layer can absorb heat from laser to reduce damage to the third electrode layer. Thus, penetration of external defect-causing factors into the organic light-emissive layer through the third electrode layer can be reduced.
